Quantum Leap Cast

3rd July 1954: Sam is all shook up when he leaps into the life of a young Elvis Presley, during rehearsals for the ‘Southern Salute to America’ talent contest. An over-excited Al arrives with the news that Sam’s mission is to help fellow competitor Sue Anne Winters get through her stage fright, whilst also ensuring that Elvis gets signed up by Sam Phillips of Sun Records in two days’ time. After giving a terrible performance of ‘Dixie’, Sam and Elvis’ best friend, Red West, have lunch at the diner where Sue Anne works; Sam manages to persuade the waitress into joining him in an impromptu rendition of ‘Amazing Grace’, much to the appreciation of the assembled diners – apart from Sue Anne’s over-possessive fiancé, Frank Begley. The following morning, Sam visits Sun Records to cut a disc for his mother’s birthday; unfamiliar with the songs he is supposed to perform, Sam decides to sing ‘Blue Christmas’ instead, and then manages to convince record producer Marion Keisker to attend the talent contest to see him on stage. That evening, at the contest, Sue Anne freezes again, so Sam steps in and starts a duet that blows the audience away. However, Al then tells Sam that his plan has worked too well, changing history by turning the King of Rock and Roll into half of a double-act doomed to mediocrity…
